Fast-food giant McDonald’s has partnered with Beyond Meat to launch a vegan burger in the U.K, Vegan Food UK reports.
Vegan Food UK is an online organization sharing vegan food news, reviews, vlogs, and more. It operates across multiple social media platforms, with a Facebook group, Facebook page, YouTube channel, and Instagram account.
It recently shared an image of Instagram from an anonymous insider showing a ‘new vegan burger’ featuring a Beyond Meat patty in a sesame bun with tomato, lettuce, pickles, onions, vegan mayo, ketchup, mustard, and a ‘slice of vegan cheese’.
Vegan Food UK says the image is from a McDonald’s survey – and they ‘know this [burger has been] in the pipeline for a while’ – but warned it was waiting for an official statement from McDonald’s to confirm the launch.
‘A delicious burger’
“The new vegan burger from McDonald’s. 100 percent McDonald’s taste, 0 percent meat,” the photo states.
“At McDonald’s, we believe that everyone should enjoy a delicious burger without compromising on taste.”
McDonald’s X Beyond Meat
McDonald’s first partnered with Beyond Meat back in September 2019 when it launched a veggie burger in Canada.
The sandwich, called the P.L.T (plant, lettuce, and tomato), was trialed at 28 Southwestern Ontario outlets – and was rolled out to 52 locations across the province back in January this year.
However, the food chain stopped trialing the P.L.T from April 6 – adding that it has ‘no current plans to bring it back to our menu at this time’.
*McDonald’s did not deny or confirm the reported launch when asked by PBN, and said: “We are always looking to develop new and exciting products for our customers looking to reduce their meat consumption. We will keep customers informed of any real product news through our website and social media channels.”
