Lewis Hamilton has revealed his dog Roscoe is now ‘fully vegan’ – and is ‘super happy’.

The Formula 1 champion shared the news via the British Bulldog’s Instagram account.

The breed famously suffers from a slew of health issues, due to years and years of inbreeding to achieve specific characteristics. These include breathing problems, heart defects, and autoimmune diseases among other issues.

‘Now fully vegan’

Hamilton posted the news via an Instagram story, sharing a picture of Roscoe.

It was accompanied by a caption that said: “Hey guys, so Roscoe is now fully vegan.

Since he has gone vegan, his coat is much softer, his swollen paws have healed up, he is no longer limping with the pain of arthritis and his breathing has opened up. Super happy with the result and he is too.”

Vegan dogs

According to animal rights charity PETA, with ‘the right planning and care’, dogs can be plant-based, adding that ‘it’s important to ensure that their nutritional requirements are met’.

The charity says: “Dogs require two amino acids, L-carnitine and taurine, which are usually added to vegan dog foods or can be added as supplements.

Many vegan…dogs enjoy excellent health. One remarkable example is that of Bramble, a 27-year-old border collie whose vegan diet of rice, lentils, and organic vegetables earned her consideration by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s oldest living dog in 2002.”

Many experts recommend transitioning your dog to a vegan diet under the supervision of your vet.
