Accessories such as a ‘chunky necklace with orange swirls and rhinestone detailing, coordinating statement loop rhinestone earrings, and high-heeled green strap sandals’ are also part of the collection. As well as recycled plastic blue sunglasses with a double-lens frame.

‘A sustainable and circular fashion system’

Ella Soccorsi is a Concept Designer at H&M. In an online statement, she said: “Innovation Stories is a platform that pushes our experimentation to the next level.

“The initiative encourages our work with scientists and developers and puts a spotlight on our progressive ideas.”

Soccorsi then concluded: “Science Story is a homage to the years of research and experiments behind these incredible materials.”

Ann-Sofie Johansson is the Creative Advisor at H&M. She states that the new concept supports ‘H&M’s journey towards a sustainable and circular fashion system’.

Johansson also added: “Innovation Stories allows us to develop and grow, all while creating desirable and long-lasting pieces that we hope our customers will love and be proud of.”

Entrepreneurs Adrián López Velarde and Marte Cázarez founded Desserto back in 2019.

The duo says its cactus leather took two years to develop. Moreover, it has ‘competitive features compared to animal or synthetic leather, like sustainability, performance, and aesthetics’.

Since its debut, Desserto has won a slew of awards such as the 2020 Green Product Award and the LVMH Innovation Award 2020

It has also partnered with several fashion companies including footwear brand CLAE.
