Privilege.
Noun
a special right, advantage, or immunity granted or available only to a particular person or group.
Humans have an important privilege. One, most other creatures on this planet are denied every day. The privilege to be heard. Human stories have carried through history and herstory for thousands of years.
Tales that have shaped the world we live in today, yet none of those tales come from nonhuman minds and mouths. Just as the past we hear of – more often than not – is the past of white people. Just as most narratives we hear, are the narratives of men. And just as racism and patriarchy must end, so must speciesism.?
Why should you use your privilege?
We have been lucky enough to be born human, so we should use our privilege to the advantage of others, so others can listen to the voices of those who have been silenced. The animals.
Millions of years of slavery, torture, abuse, rape, murder and still they do not have their birth right – freedom. Only a tiny portion of the world is willing to help animals by using their voice, are you one of them? If not, why? What is stopping you?
A kind society
Animal rights activists are not terrorists. Despite what you may have heard, all we want is a just, kind society. The real terrorists are those who force feed society with fascist lies, those who brainwash others into thinking that murder is acceptable and those who even when shown the truth, continue to conform to this blinded existence.
Corporations like the government and animal torture industries pretend that animals are given good lives and that nothing bad happens to them. There is no greater insult to someone who has suffered, than denying that their suffering exists.
Unlike certain companies, animal liberation activists do not gain anything when you listen to their message other than the possibility, that once you know, another animals’ life may be spared.?
How can you use your privilege?
Using your privilege is easy, it simply means standing up for those in need and there are so many ways you can do that! Find something you like to do e.g drawing, making videos etc. and turn it into something you can use to stand up for animals. (Find out more here).
You have power, compassion, freedom. You can use that to help others. Use your voice. Use your privilege for the better.
