Parents of babies and small children will find an invaluable resource with the Baby & Toddler Vegan Feeding Guide.
Author Julia Feliz Brueck has created a unique and important book.
Also inspiring is the fact that a portion of proceeds from the Baby & Toddler Vegan Feeding Guide goes to Chilis on Wheels, a charity that gives plant-based food to those in need through emergency vegan food relief and vegan dog-food relief.
Evidence
The Baby and Toddler Vegan Feeding Guide is written with a friendly and conversational tone that makes it easy to read and comprehend all the abundant information it contains.
In fact, the easy-to-follow guide offers a wealth of information that takes the guesswork out of ensuring your babies and small children get adequate nutrition from yummy foods they’ll want to eat.
One of the things that make me cringe is pseudoscience, so I was very happy to see there was no room for any of that nonsense in this book.
It is based on science and evidence. In fact, to my delight, she writes on skeptical vegan parenting.
She encourages critical thinking in making these important daily choices that will impact your kids’ growth and health.
I love the fact that Julia includes a useful mix-and-match chart to help plan easy meals for kids, and she even has a blank chart that’s guided with headings for your personal use and notes.
Healthy
This comprehensive guide covers feeding infants and weaning them as vegans as well as healthily feeding toddlers on a plant-based diet.
Julia also covers something that most new vegan parents worry about: eating in restaurants. She offers useful advice on navigating meetings, playdates, and parties in a world where eating animals is the norm.
Although parenting requires an undeniable amount of selflessness, self-care is especially important for parents. After all, if you don’t replenish and take care of yourself, it can ultimately be impossible to care for others.
Julia writes a whole chapter on also meeting your own nutritional needs throughout all the phases as a vegan parent with information that pregnant women and nursing moms can use.
The Baby and Toddler Vegan Feeding Guide also includes recipes. Although I am not a parent, I couldn’t resist making the green muffins to try myself. Let me tell you, they do not disappoint. They were delicious, and children are sure to ask for them.
Useful
Overall, the book is something I’d feel happy about giving to any expecting parents or those who already have little ones.
You don’t have to be vegan to get a lot out of the book, either, since it has very useful information that all parents can use, but vegans will find it especially helpful and reassuring.
The Baby & Toddler Vegan Feeding Guide is Brueck’s second book. She released Libby Finds Vegan Sanctuary, a children’s board book that she wrote and illustrated, in 2016.
Both books are available in paperback and e-book formats. You can get your copy of the Baby & Toddler Vegan Feeding Guide at Vegan Essentials and Amazon.
