There are hopes Prince Harry will stop killing animals for good after it was revealed he would abstain from the traditional Boxing Day hunt.
Although the Prince reportedly hunted wild boar in Germany earlier this month, according to The Sun newspaper, a ‘royal insider’ said the Prince was ditching the Boxing Day killing because of finance Meghan Markle.
Markle has often spoken out about her love for her rescue dogs, and reportedly follows a part-time plant-based diet – although she has also been said to enjoy eating animals including chicken.
‘Stunned’
They added: “Meghan is a keen animal rights campaigner and doesn’t like hunting in any form.
“Harry loves it and has always been out there on Boxing Day. But if it means breaking with long-standing royal traditions to avoid upsetting her, so be it.
“It’s fair to say that there are some pretty stunned faces around here.”
Hunting
According to reports earlier In December, the Prince joined 15 friends on a hunting trip – during which a number of wild boar were allegedly killed.
While Kensington Palace refused to comment on the story, a source reportedly told the Daily Mail: “Harry enjoys the whole ritual of the hunt in Germany – from the sound of the horn, to the schnapps toasting the start, to the actual shooting.”
‘Hypocrite’
An animal rights activist told PBN: “Meghan is obviously having a positive impact on Harry if he has chosen to avoid the Boxing Day shoot to keep her happy.
“If it is true he went hunting just a few weeks ago some could say this makes him a hypocrite.
“For too long, the royal family has killed animals for nothing more than sadistic fun.
“But there are campaigners out there who really hope he is changing his ways – and will stops killing animals for fun altogether.”
