This Saturday Plant Based News hosted the first ever international screening of Dominion.

The feature-length film directed by Chris Delforce and co-produced by Earthlings Director Shaun Monson focuses on how animals are used and abused in Australia, and features footage from abattoirs and farms.

It is narrated by some high profile vegan celebrities including Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara, Sia, Sadie Sink, and Kat Von D.

‘Ride of hell’

To say I was not fully prepared to see this film is an understatement.

This documentary is the result of hundreds of hours of footage, undercover filming, industry intimidation, threats and personal sacrifice. Despite all this, Chris and his team have delivered the film to the world.

Dominion takes the viewer on an unrelenting ride of hell, which is the true reality for billions of sentient beings every minute of every hour of every day on Earth today.

Action

It would be very easy to turn the other way, to close our eyes and plug our ears. But seeing this film could be what many need to see to take action.

It is very easy for non-vegans to suggest we are angry, militant or obsessed. But I challenge any non-vegan to sit through this film and not question our very existence on this planet.

As leading vegan academic Dr. Melanie Joy says, if killing and eating animals is no longer necessary then it is a choice, and behind choices there are always beliefs.

Rise up

The dominant belief system that exists in the world today teaches that killing animals is normal, needed and necessary. That we must continue to do it. But at what cost? Our future? Our humanity?

Factory farming is a form of insanity – the kind that does not hesitate to annihilate sentient, feeling beings like bugs being crushed under our feet, it tears all that is human and humane to shreds, it destroys nature itself and us along with it.

I urge you to watch this film and rise up, with your words, your voice and any other means necessary to spread the truth of what this monster has become.

Humanity can change the world and we will, there is no future if we do not.
