A woman has faced a fierce online backlash after having the word ‘vegan’ tattooed on her face.
Kate Alice, from Preston, got the tattoo above her right eyebrow.
After the proceedure, she sent a humorous Snapchat saying: “Now I don’t need to tell everyone I’m vegan every five minutes.”
She took to social to media to add that she ‘loves’ the new inking.
Criticism
The passionate vegan came in for some harsh criticism from online commentators.
One person wrote: “Why the f*** would you get the word vegan written on your face in big letters?”
Another added: “That tattoo is gonna look fantastic when she turns 70.”
There were some positive comments too, with one Facebook user saying: “I think its good. People have the right to express what they believe in any way.”
Passionate
Kate Alice spoke to media outlet Lab Bible about her ink.
She said: “I chose to get this tattoo as I’m incredibly passionate about veganism and know I’ll be vegan for life.
“Of course the tattoo on my face received quite a lot of negative reactions because people seem to get upset when they see the word ‘vegan’.
“I primarily went vegan a few years ago because of empathy for the animals, and I’m still learning about how eating meat is so harmful for the planet and contributing towards world hunger and so many illnesses in humans.”
