Vegan celebrity, Russell Brand, says he was ‘nudged’ back into veganism by meat and dairy lobbyists, following the announcement that he was giving the lifestyle another go.
What The Health
Brand, who recently spoke about veganism on Joe Rogan’s podcast, was asked on Twitter whether his ‘adventures in vegan-hood’ was ‘out of respect for life’.
“I do love animals and plants but the thing that nudged me into veganism is the lobbying by meat/dairy industry in @Kip_Andersen’s film What The Health,” the star replied.
In 2011, Brand attempted veganism for the first time after watching the documentary Forks Over Knives with his now ex-wife Katy Perry, when he Tweeted: “I’m now vegan, goodbye eggs, hello Ellen.”
Despite doubts about Brand returning to veganism, the comedian has repeatedly spoken about his cruelty-free lifestyle on social media.
When complimented for looking ‘healthy and revitalized’, Brand said: “I think the veganism is kicking hard. You saw the rainbow tear?”
‘Ascended to vegan-hood’
He also confirmed he’s still refraining from consuming animal products when asked whether he thinks pineapple belongs on pizza or not.
“Hard no from me. But I can’t even have cheese on pizza now. Not since I ascended to vegan-hood,” he replied.
