Rapper Drake confirmed he is vegetarian during a live stream on social media platform Twitch this week.

Almost 650,000 people tuned in to watch the musician – who is also a keen gamer – battle popular Twitch personality Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins, in the platform’s most-watched bout ever.

During the stream, while the players were talking about food, Drake confirmed he is meat-free, saying: “Chicken and pineapple on pizza could work – but I don’t eat meat anymore.”

Plant-based?

The confirmation follows speculation over Drake’s dietary status after he posted a joke on Instagram last week suggesting he had dropped animal products.

The star, who has come under fire from animal rights charity PETA in the past, after teaming up with fur company Canada Goose, posted a photo of him and a friend in an argument, with the caption: “If two vegans are angry at each other…is it beef?”

The joke prompted speculation over whether he had ditched animals products – and whether it was a result of his friend Beyonce following a plant-based diet as part of her prep for music festival Coachella.

Drake neither confirmed nor denied the rumor at the time.
