The Queen is banning single-use plastic from the Royal Estates, according to Buckingham Palace.
A spokesperson said her Majesty ‘is committed to reducing [the estate’s] environmental impact.
Plastic straws and cups will be phased out of cafes and staff dining areas, and catering staff will use china plates, glasses, recyclable paper cups, and biodegradable wrapping for takeaway food.
‘Practical steps’
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: “Across the organisation, the Royal household is committed to reducing its environmental impact.
“As part of that, we have taken a number of practical steps to cut back on the use of plastics.
“At all levels, there’s a strong desire to tackle this issue.”
In addition, a ‘green newsletter’ will be distributed to to staff regularly.
