Plant Based News was honored with a Compassionate Business Award by vegan charity PETA at a central London event yesterday.

The award recognizes PBN for ‘creating a global news platform that informs millions of people about the importance of cruelty-free living’.

Speaking at the event, PETA Founder and President Ingrid Newkirk said PBN was her news source for all things vegan, as she presented the award, which was collected by PBN Co-founder Robbie Lockie and Editor Maria Chiorando.

“It such an honor to be recognized by PETA for the work we do sharing a vegan message,” said Lockie, who revealed that he became vegan when his neighbor’s cat died in his hands after being hit by a car whose driver fled the scene.

“In that moment I realized I had to align my actions with my beliefs, and more become conscious of all the animal deaths at the hands of humans,” he said.

“Now I work with the small but passionate PBN team to campaign and create content that opens people’s minds to the way we perceive and exploit animals.”
