Award-winning actor Jessica Chastain has discussed her animal-friendly lifestyle, speaking out about rescuing animals and committing to cruelty-free products.

The 40-year old celeb told media outlet People that she ‘adopted every animal [she ‘s] ever had’, including a three-legged dog, which she doesn’t want people to pity.

“He is so excited to be there with me going on a walk down the pavement, hopping along with the biggest joy you could ever see,” said the actress.

Cruelty-free

The Oscar nominee is also a Humane Society of the United States volunteer, supporting the animal rights organization in its partnership with 200 U.S. school districts to bring vegan menus into cafeterias – as well as working with fashion brands to aid them in creating cruelty-free products.

“The more success that I’ve been afforded in my industry, the more I’ve gotten to learn about what’s going on in the fashion world,” she says.

“I very strongly believe in buying products that are cruelty-free.”

Vegan

But although a vegan herself, she doesn’t believe everyone should follow suit.

“I don’t think everyone needs to be vegan,” says the actress.

“It just means helping create healthier choices for society and for our hearts at the end of the day.”
