BuzzFeed has published a video showing non-vegans trying plant-based cheese, and none of them could tell the difference.

The video, produced by Auriyana Jackson and Patrick Ward, sees six people trying three different brands of vegan cheese: Miyoko’s vegan ‘wheels’, Reine Vegan’s ‘premium’ cheese, and Daiya’s dairy-free cheddar.

Towards the end of the video, the cheese lovers are told that all the samples they had tried were made entirely from plants, and contained no animal products.

‘I would never have guessed it was vegan’

Lillian Cheung said: “I’m impressed because I was gonna say I can never be vegan because I love cheese so much, and I can’t survive without cheese. But this – I would never have guessed that it was vegan cheese.”

Whilst another cast member, Spenser Field, said: “If you hadn’t told me that I wouldn’t have known that. I mean, I wouldn’t have thought it, that wouldn’t be my first instinct.”

Completely ‘fooled’

Indiana Fawcett said he was ‘fooled’ and thought the vegan samples were ‘just fancy cheese’.

Ending the video, Kwesi James commented: “I need the names of all the cheese so I can bring it to a party and like, shock someone else.”
