Ex-Oasis singer, Noel Gallagher, has spoken about vegans in a recent interview, asking ‘what’s the point?’.

The musician responded to fellow singer Shaun Ryder hosting a vegan event in Manchester. Gallagher said one of his band members was vegan and that he felt ‘sorry for her’.

‘Animals roaming the world’

He told Manchester Evening News: “When we were in South America they didn’t know what a vegan was. I passed her the menu and said you might as well eat the f***ing menu.

But yeah vegans, what’s the point? It’s like no animal products at all. These people would literally have f***ing animals roaming the world, cows everywhere in the f***ing streets, sheep in phone boxes.

I like chickens. Very versatile animal.”

‘Uneducated, uninspiring’

The interview, which was posted on Twitter, quickly received backlash from vegans.

“Uneducated, uninspiring… How is this man still relevant? Why is his opinion newsworthy?” one user wrote.

Despite the singer’s opinion on veganism, his daughter, Anaïs Gallagher, featured on a campaign that promoted meat-free living last year.

Anaïs said: “My dog Ziggy is like my best friend, but all animals feel pain and fear, so if you wouldn’t eat your pets, why would you eat another animal?

“Animals need you to speak up for them. Get out there and get active!”
