Marine amusement park SeaWorld has come under fire in recent years for its terrible treatment of animals, which in too many cases has led to premature death.
Now musician Noah Cyrus – rumored vegan and sister of vocal vegan Miley – has teamed up with animal rights charity PETA to campaign against the cruel attraction.
So far, 41 orcas have died on SeaWorld’s watch, and six marine mammals have died at its parks this year alone.
Sad
Cyrus says: “I love animals so much. To think that any animal would be trapped – it makes me so sad.
“It’s like living in your bedroom for your entire life and never being able to go outside.”
Trapped
To promote the campaign, the singer took part in a photoshoot, which shows her trapped in a small tiny tank excruciatingly close to the wide-open ocean.
A PETA spokesperson said: “Orcas form complex relationships, work cooperatively to find food, and traverse up to 140 miles in the ocean every day.
“But orcas at SeaWorld are housed in incompatible groups inside tiny tanks, and some are even given the drug diazepam to manage their stress-induced aggressive behavior.”
Cyrus added: “We want SeaWorld to do the right thing and release the orcas to a sanctuary.”
