Actor Liam Hemsworth has been crowned Australia’s Sexiest Vegan Celebrity for 2017 by animal rights organization PETA.

The 27-year-old, who is engaged (or secretly married) to fellow vegan celebrity Miley Cyrus, ditched animal products two years ago.

The award comes one year after winning the US version of the honor.

Australia’s Sexiest Vegans

The Hollywood actor shares the title with Ru Paul’s Drag Race star Courtney Act.

“A staggering number of celebrities went vegan in 2017, so it’s been harder than ever to crown Australia’s Sexiest Vegan Celebrities,” PETA said in a statement.

“In the end, there were two who stood out – not just for being sexy but, more importantly, for speaking up for animals: Liam Hemsworth and Courtney Act.”

Vegan

Hemsworth’s Hunger Games co-star Woody Harrelson inspired him to become vegan.

Since then, the star has become an outspoken proponent of the lifestyle, taking to social media to encourage his millions of followers to watch vegan movie What The Health earlier this year.

“If you care about your health, animal welfare or the planet we all live on, you must watch this documentary,” Hemsworth wrote.

‘Made sense’

He also said in an interview: “Having grown up with a love for and connection to all animals, and having been educated on the health benefits of a plant-based diet, it only made sense for me to go vegan.

“My own health, and after all the information I gathered about the mistreatment of animals, I couldn’t continue to eat meat. The more I was aware, the harder and harder it was to do.

“So with the facts I was gathering, and then just how I was physically feeling, I felt like I had to do something different, so I adopted this vegan-diet lifestyle.”
