American rapper and songwriter, Benjamin Haggerty, known on stage as Macklemore, has taken to social media to inform his followers that he hasn’t eaten meat for 30 days and claims he’s ‘in it for the long haul’.

The star posted several videos on his Snapchat story grilling two veggie burgers while speaking about how he’s ditched meat for an entire month.

‘This is health’

“It’s a beautiful day in the Pacific Northwest out here and I’m grilling, but I’m not grilling meat. That’s right, this is vegetables,” Macklemore said.

“This is health. I’ve been off the meat for thirty days. I feel the same. I’m still the same weight but I’m in it for the long haul baby. We healthy 2019.”

‘Now is the time to act’

The performer has also been vocal about environmental issues such as climate change. He recently encouraged his 2.56 million followers to vote, Tweeting: “Washington State is my home. It’s where I raise my daughters.

“We need clean air and clean water, and we need to hold big polluters accountable. Now is the time to act on climate change.”
