Aiming to become the Ted Talks of veganism, founders Damien Clarkson and Judy Nadel created Vevolution last year and immediately held Europe’s biggest ever vegan educational conference attracting 500 people to the Oval Space in East London.
The series of evening events called Vevolution Topics: see 160 people gather each month to hear short inspirational talks from thought leaders in the vegan movement.
All the talks are recorded and made available for free on YouTube. Later this year the startup plan to re-launch their website and a comprehensive home for their growing library of free educational talks.
The next event is taking place on the evening of the 5th of April is called Veovlution Topics: Activism and Campaigning: Emerging Issues And Tactics For Effective Campaigning
Speakers include Film-maker Ali Tabrizi, who is working with the makers of Cowspiracy on his first feature film Seaspiracy. Jimmy Pierson
Director of ProVeg International, environmental artist Francesca A. Page and zero waste vegan campaigner Immy Lucas. And a special live performance by grime artist Jay Brave.
Food will be available from vegan pie and mash makers Young Vegans and La Buenaventura who will be providing vegan versions of traditional spanish food. Attendees will also receive sample products from Vevolution sponsors.The evening will also include a charity raffle. The previous two events have raised over £400 for Hackney based plant-based community kitchen Made In Hackney.
Earlier events in the series have focused on topics like Food Innovation and Health And Wellbeing.
Attendees of these events have seen talks delivered from the likes of vegan video recipe sensation Bosh!, startup allplants, charity Made In Hackney and professional stuntman and parkour athlete Chase Armitage and entrepreneur and founder of Bexfast Rebecca Walker and vegan bodybuilder The Plant Powered PT.These events are also an opportunity to eat great food with the events showcasing a rotating lineup of vegan food businesses. So far the likes of Pomodoro E Basilico, Brighton based pop-up Planted, Bexfast, La Cremerie, Vida Bakery, Eat Chay and food blogger Kind State Of Mind have fed attendees.
The event is also supported by Vevolution sponsors Tideford Organics, Oatly, One Planet Pizza, Bute Island Foods and Lemonaid.
“The vegan movement is evolving rapidly and London is becoming a real hub for innovation in veganism. After the success of our festival in November, we saw that this community needed to connect more regularly because the that work people are doing is so important. A shift towards Veganism is a way we can save the lives of animals, slow down climate change, improve people’s health.” said Vevolution Co-Founder Judy Nadel.
