Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio has asked his fans to help ‘save the elephants’.

The self-described environmentalist took to Instagram to share a message with his followers after seeing the animals during a trip to South Africa.

Poaching

Posting an image of the animals, he wrote: “Two elephants during a meet and greet session near a water hole in Tembe Elephant Park, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

“Elephants with big tusks are increasingly hard to find due to the ongoing poaching for ivory.

“Help save the elephants by supporting WWF and other conservation organizations!”

Wildlife

DiCaprio posts regularly about environmental issues and their impact on wildlife.

Last month he posed with primatologist Dr. Jane Goodhall, and praised her work with animals, writing: “Congratulations to Dr. Jane Goodall on [film] Jane, an inspiring documentary highlighting her many accomplishments and discoveries.”

He has also posted extensively urging his followers to oppose legislation he believes will harm wildlife and the planet.

DiCaprio has also invested in plant-based startup Beyond Meat – though he is not believed to be vegetarian or vegan.
