Comedian Shappi Khorsandi gave up her plant-based diet for TV show I’m A Celebrity: Get Me Out Of Here – and became ‘violently sick’, reports The Sun.
The 44-year-old stand-up comic revealed she was following a plant-based diet before entering the jungle last month.
Her physical reaction to eating animals was extreme.
Sick
Khorsandi told The Mirror: “I had meat, and I was really, really physically sick, five times in one hour. It was horrible.”
Khorsandi then explained the production team stepped in, and gave her secret vegan food parcels: “After that I asked for vegan food, and they were very accommodating.
“It was fine.”
The comedian, who has also described life in camp as ‘agony’, was the first to be voted out of the jungle on Friday night.
Vegan
Writing in The Independent recently, Khorsandi spoke about veganism, saying: “The last few months have market a significant chapter in my life: I have started to come out to my friends and family as vegan.
“Becoming vegan isn’t just about food.
“It’s a movement – one that I’ve joined – and, like all movements, there are disagreements within, because none of us are exactly the same, and some of us are insufferable hectoring hummus warrios.”
