Reykjavik is to hold Iceland’s first ever plant-based conference, entitled Vegan Heilsa (Vegan Health).

‘Health benefits of a vegan diet’

The event – where ‘leading experts discuss the health benefits of a vegan diet’ – will take place at the Harpa conference center in Iceland’s largest city on October 16, from 12 pm – 5 pm.

Guest speakers include Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Brenda Davis RD, Dr. Shireen Kassam, as well as local Icelanders who want to ‘share their stories of what a plant-based diet has done for them’.

The conference, which will be mainly in English, will be hosted by Gudrun Soley Gestsdottir, media personality and author of the vegan cookbook Grænkerakrásir.

“Speakers also include Ann Esselstyn who will share her energetic talk the HOW and the WOW of a plant-based diet,” the conference’s website reads.

“Elin Skuladottir shares her story of transitioning to veganism during chemotherapy in her talk What Can I Do? Beggi Olafs is an Icelandic soccer player and a psychology major, he shares his story of the athlete who never intended to stop eating meat.”
