Vegan cooks the Happy Pear have replaced the plastic packaging on their granola and sprouts products.
Stephen and David Flynn have opted for compostable pouches for their granola and compostable tubs for their sprouts, which are available in Supervalu stores across Ireland.
According to the pair, they have a team dedicated to sustainable packaging which has helped them move to more sustainable solutions over the last year.
Sustainability
Some of the steps the Flynns have taken towards becoming more sustainable including using Ireland’s only completely paper-free compostable cup in their eateries.
In addition, the Happy Pear cafes donate any surplus food to local charities through food redistribution charity, FoodCloud and coffee grinds from the cafés are used by local gardeners.
‘Creating a happier world’
“Eating more fruit and vegetables is one of the kindest things we can do for our planet and at The Happy Pear, we want to create a healthier and happier world,” Stephen Flynn told Plant Based News.
“That’s why we make delicious and healthy plant-based food and we’re doing our best to put it in more sustainable and environmentally friendly packaging like our compostable pouches for granola and compostable tubs for sprouts.”
“Sustainability resonates with our brand. It’s vital for the environment and that’s important for our business. We’ve been working hard over the last year on finding solutions that better impact the environment,” added David Flynn.
