Teenage climate campaigner Greta Thunberg will scoop a major honor at this year’s GQ Men Of The Year Awards.

Thunberg has become increasingly prolific over the last year, for encouraging students globally to attend demonstrations demanding political action on climate change while ‘on strike’ from school. She has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, as well as becoming the first recipient of the prestigious Prix Liberté.

Now she will add GQ’s ‘Game Changer Of The Year Award’, which has been especially created for her, to her haul.

“The Game Changer Award was created for Greta Thunberg,” said GQ editor Dylan Jones. “Her fearless dedication to raising awareness of the global climate change crisis makes her the absolute embodiment of this award and on behalf of GQ we couldn’t be prouder to celebrate her.”

“I am very grateful and this award is for everyone in the Fridays For Future movement, everyone whose school is striking for the climate,” added Thunberg.

“We all deserve this award because together we have accomplished so much. So thank you to everyone who has been school striking as well.”

Thunberg will appear on the front cover of GQ’s October issue. GQ’s Men of the Year Awards ceremony will take place in London on September 3.
