Kamala Harris is being encouraged to go plant-based after she posted a Thanksgiving recipe to her Instagram.

The Vice President-Elect of the U.S shared her ‘family’s favorite’ Cornbread Dressing to her 13.2 million followers. It featured non-vegan ingredients such as pork sausage, chicken broth, and butter.

‘The whole world is counting on you’

Thousands commented on the post, requesting Hariss ditch animal products. One social media user wrote: “Looks delicious! But it can be made with vegan alternatives.

“Please, the whole world is counting on you to take climate change and animal cruelty seriously.”

Moreover, Vampire Diaries star Paul Wesley also commented on the post. He said: “How about we use veggie sausage instead of pork and help fight climate change?”

‘During difficult times, I have always turned to cooking’

Environmental racism

Prominent vegan advocate Dominick Thompson was another who addressed the environmental impact of Harris’ dish. He also spoke out on environmental racism and encouraged his followers to push Harris to go plant-based.

“Remove the pork sausage, chicken brother, and butter,” he said.

“Replace it with Beyond Meat sausage, chicken broth, and vegan butter. Problem solved, and now everyone can enjoy this recipe without the impact it will have on the environment.

“Especially those living in black poor rural communities in North Carolina. [Which is] one of the largest hog-producing states leading the charge in environmental racism.

“Kamala Harris, pork is killing our people. Please make the connection.”
