Meghan Markle has made her first-ever public investment, Fortune has revealed.
The Duchess of Sussex has invested an undisclosed amount in vegan startup Clevr Blends: a company selling instant ‘Super Lattes’ made from oat milk.
Clevr Blends’ plant-based offerings include a Matcha Superlatte, Chai SuperLatte, Golden SuperLatte, Coffee SuperLatte, as well as a travel mug and ‘home ritual kit’.
‘Ethical ingredients’
According to Fortune, Markle said: “This investment is in support of a passionate female entrepreneur who prioritizes building community alongside her business.
“I’m proud to invest in Hannah’s commitment to sourcing ethical ingredients and creating a product that I personally love and [that] has a holistic approach to wellness. I believe in her, and I believe in her company.”
‘Entrepreneurs need funding’
Co-founder and CEO Hannah Mendoza added that she was ‘grateful’ for the investment, and ‘couldn’t imagine a more aligned partnership’.
She added: “Entrepreneurs need funding, but they also need advisers who care deeply about what they are building…. Her passion for what we’re creating is palpable.”
Talk show host Oprah Winfrey recently plugged the brand to her 19.2 million followers – after receiving the latte powders as a gift from Markle herself.
“On the first day of Christmas my neighbor ‘M’ sent to me…a basket of deliciousness!” the star wrote.
“(Yes that M?) My new drink of choice for the morning and night. Wish I had Celvr Brands sooner cause I would’ve added it to my ‘Favorite Things’ list.”
