Sales at a plant-based bakery have spiked after comedian Jon Stewart requested the delivery of vegan cakes to the hosts of ABC’s The View.

Pennsylvania-based bakery Vegan Treats‘ cakes made an appearance on a recent episode of the talk show at the request of Stewart and his vegan wife – in a bid to prove that vegan dessert can taste good.

In an earlier episode of The View, actor – and recent vegan – Craig Robinson revealed he was on the lookout for a vegan cake for his birthday.

But co-host Sunny Hostin was skeptical a plant-based cake could ever be delicious.

‘Crazy’

At Stewart’s request, Vegan Treats owner Danielle Konya delivered the vegan cakes to the talk show hosts earlier this week.

Since then, the bakery’s sales have seen a significant growth.

She told media outlet 69 News WFMZ: “I literally was still driving home from New York City and my manager called and was like ‘Uhhh… the bakery phone won’t stop ringing.

‘The website’s been shut down with too much traffic.’ It was crazy.”

Talking about the Stewarts, Konya said: “They’re great friends of mine. I met them several years through Farm Sanctuary.

“We just hit it off. And they’re big fans of my bakery.”

‘Wrong’

Hostin quickly changed her mind about vegan cakes when she sampled a slice.

“Let me see if I stand corrected, Jon Stewart,” said Hostin as she took a bite of cake.

“I was wrong.”

Konya added: “We do run into some skeptics, but I feel like the dessert speaks for itself.”
