Celebrity actors Tom Hanks and Tom Cruise have been gifted a vegan roast turkey for Thanksgiving.

The stars – along with other ‘famous Toms’ such as Tom Brady – will also receive vegan goods. This includes foods such as plant-based stuffing, gravy, and carrot cake cookies.

The gifts are part of an initiative led by animal advocacy group PETA. It has written a letter to the celebs asking them to celebrate ‘ThanksVegan’ this year.

‘Significant change’

“Pardon us, Tom, but Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and we need to talk turkey,” the letters states.

“Considering all we’ve been through this year… Just about everyone recognizes that it’s time to make a significant change for human health, the environment, and animals…

“It’s high time that we got back to the basics: plants. We’re asking you to help lead the way.

” Please pardon Tom for Thanksgiving by leaving dead turkeys out of your holiday plans. Instead, gobble vegetables and other healthful, plant-based vegan foods.”

Vegan Thanksgiving

This year, a slew of celebs have signed a pledge to leave turkey off their plate this Thanksgiving.

Stars such as Alec Baldwin, Joaquin Phoenix, and Rooney Mara have signed the initiative created by Farm Sanctuary.

It states: “I object to animal cruelty, environmental destruction, the exploitation of slaughterhouse workers… And the deep wounds inflicted upon rural communities by the factory farming industry.

“As such, I will join Farm Sanctuary in celebrating a more compassionate Thanksgiving by leaving turkey off my dinner plate.”
