US recording artist Ne-Yo has revealed on social media that he is going ‘100 per cent vegan’.
According to the star, he watched plant-based documentary What The Health, and is now committed to eschewing all animal products.
Recipes
On a video he shared on Facebook and Twitter, Ne-Yo said: “Alright ladies and gentlemen.
“Thanks to the What The Health documentary I have officially gone vegan, completely vegan, so I need you all to send me some vegan recipes, and stuff that I can actually eat, because I’m in a grocery store – lost.”

The singer, songwriter, record producer, dancer, and actor, whose full name is Shaffer Chimere Smith, added: “I have to give a lot of credit to What The Health… I ain’t eating none of that s*** no more.
“I ain’t messing with meat no more. I can’t – after watching that – I can’t.
“It’s mind blowing knowing how blissfully ignorant I was for so long with the stuff I was eating, not knowing that they are killing us all.”
Challenge
Admitting that he ‘doesn’t cook’, Ne-Yo said: “This is about to get really difficult.”
Walking through the aisles of the grocery store, he and his friends questioned whether certain items are suitable for a plant-based diet.
He joked: “Agave is ok because it’s natural. Honey isn’t – because it comes from bees and that would be breaking the vegan laws.”
Ne-Yo admitted to ‘doing the vegan thing’ once before. “I lasted a month or so,” he said. “But it was a little easier because I was in LA. There are like, a million vegan restaurants in LA. But I’m in Atlanta – they fry water in Atlanta!”
Cheese
Like many on a plant-based diet, it appears that cutting out cheese could be a difficult step.
He said: “I say to the cheese of the world – I am going to miss you. You were a good, good friend of mine. But you’re trying to kill me. So I can’t eat you.”
He asks any viewers who know any vegan restaurants in Atlanta to message him. Finishing the video, he says he’s ‘never been a fruit and vegetable person’.
“But we’re gonna make it work! Because it means something. It means saving your life.”
