An online counter that shows the number of animals killed for food in real time in the US has been launched online.
The ‘animal kill clock’ was created to ‘bring attention to the incredible number of animals currently suffering on factory farms’.
Data
A spokesperson for Animal Clock told PBN: “Each year, billions of intelligent animals are bred for slaughter on factory farms.
“The 2018 U.S. Animal Kill Clock leverages data from Government agencies and other well-cited sources to estimate a real-time count of animal deaths attributable to production of the U.S. food supply.”
Advocacy
The site housing the clock also shares information about the grim conditions many animals are raised and slaughtered in – and what consumers can do to lessen their impact in these areas.
According to the spokesperson: “Animal Clock raises awareness of the scale of industrial factory farming while highlighting the physical and emotional toll that the system takes on individual animals.
“The site also educates visitors about opportunities for individuals to effect positive change.”
