Catie Turner,
an 18-year old vegan from Bucks County, Pennsylvania, has made it into the top
ten finalists of US talent show American Idol.

Outspoken

Turner is
vocal about her veganism on social media, and took to Twitter on Thursday with
a tongue in cheek film proposal for Disney, starring her as a mushroom in a story of ‘the
first vegan princess’.

She also
‘tweeted’ earlier this month to ask ‘who puts cheese in hash browns’,
adding ‘LET A VEGAN EAT POTATOES IN PEACE’.

Top ten

The young
performer was voted into the finals with the help of viewers, as well as judges
Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie.

Turner
particularly impressed judges with her original music, and her cover of Blondie’s
1980 smash hit ‘Call Me’.

The season finale is set to air
on May 21, and viewers can vote for their favorite musicians by text message.
