More than half of UK students – 60 percent – are demanding vegan and vegetarian food at their university, according to a new report.
The report by Sodexo’s International University Lifestyle Survey also found that a staggering 60 percent of students in the UK are trying to eat healthily – which is more than the global average.
The report polled more than 4,000 students in a bid to get an insight into students’ lifestyles.
Demand
The survey also discovered that nearly half of UK students expect Fair Trade or ethical produce to be available at their university.
Sodexo European marketing director Jo Cash said: “This year has shown a strong demand for vegan, free-from, and ethically-certified produce and this reflects our experiences at the universities where we provide catering.”
The report classified students in the UK into five types – with ‘The Healthy and Ethical Student’ being one of them.
