An innovative new Estonian brand wants to help solve the world’s plastic problem while creating vegan fashion.
KAROMade, which was founded by Karolin Kumel, is made up of a group of young fashion graduates who describe themselves as ‘consumers who got tired of fast fashion and plastic piling up our landfills and destroying our ocean’.
They create bags made from vegan leather including luxe polyeuthrane, microfibre, and recycled vegetable fibers. Recycled polyester made from discarded plastic is used for the interior.
In addition, the designers reduce waste, by using a ‘made to order’ method, which it says that lets them ‘create only as much as it’s needed and what’s needed’.

“It all started in our final year in university, when we started designing bags and building this brand as a part of the final thesis,” Karolin Kumel said in a statement sent to Plant Based News.
“We had a clear vision – our bags needed to differ from the masses, be functional and desirable without harming any animals, while also helping to solve the world’s plastic problem.
“We wanted to help the world to get rid of that waste by giving it a new life in the best possible way. So we decided to turn discarded plastic bottles into luxury vegan fashion.
“We’re helping to clean our oceans bottle by bottle by turning it into luxury vegan fashion. Each bag is exclusively made to order which lets us create only as much as it’s needed. No waste – only what’s important.”
