For the first time ever, a chatbot service is helping vegans find plant-based options anywhere in Australia – and now it’s going global.
Online service Veji, which also has a database of recipes and deals for vegan-friendly items, uses Facebook Messenger to chat with people looking for vegan fare in Australia.
Founded by Joelle Reynolds earlier this year, Veji will also be expading globally in the future.
Concept
Reynolds told PBN about how the concept came about: “The idea for Veji came from finding it really hard to find places when eating out. It’s a real struggle in most areas in Australia.
“I would search Happy Cow and they are missing lots of options and searching Google is pretty inadequate so I took it upon myself to solve this problem.
“Veji makes it easy because it’s embedded in Facebook Messenger, there is no need to download any new apps and it’s free to use.”
Reynolds says evidence has shown that people don’t download apps anymore, and chatbots are the future. “Veji fills that niche,” she adds.
Chatbot
Explaining how to use the chatbot service, Reynolds says: “You can search with location pin or suburb and Veji will return the options based on distance and if the place is open.
“We already have 2000 venues in our database, so there is a lot out there, and places are always introducing new items to feed vegans.”
“We are all about making veganism accessible to everyone.”
