Budget pub chain JD Wetherspoon is trialing new vegan options, following the recent launch of its plant-based ‘gourmet burger’.
The company, commonly referred to as Spoons, is trialing vegan chicken nuggets made from vegetarian brand Quorn in around 50 stores across the UK.
Available as a small plate for £3.50 (depending on the branch) – the meatless nuggets are also available in a wrap. Wetherspoons is also trialing a Vegan Mushroom and Vegetable Pie, priced at £7.50 depending on the branch.
According to Pretty 52, branches taking part in the trial include The Moon Under Water in Manchester, The Moon Under Water in Watford and The Banker’s Draft in Sheffield, and more.
‘Embracing fake meats’
Earlier this year, the chain announced the launch of its Vegan Gourmet Burger – which features the Meatless Farm’s meatless patty, avocado, salsa, and rocket.
Instagram user, Alice.eatvegan, posted a picture of the new product with the caption: “Wetherspoons launched a new vegan burger and you bet I went straight there after work.
“I’m so glad restaurants are starting to stop launching veggie burgers as their vegan option and embracing fake meats! I actually really enjoyed this and would probably get it again.”
