UK pub chain, JD Wetherspoon, has expanded its plant-based offerings with the launch of its new vegan burger.
The burger, which uses The Meatless Farm’s vegan patty, can be upgraded to gourmet standard – with the addition of avocado, salsa, and rocket.
‘Embracing fake meats’
Instagram user, Alice.eatvegan, posted a picture of the new product with the caption: “Wetherspoons launched a new vegan burger and you bet I went straight there after work.
“I’m so glad restaurants are starting to stop launching veggie burgers as their vegan option and embracing fake meats! I actually really enjoyed this and would probably get it again.”
Award-winning vegan options
After the company won the ‘Best Vegan Noodles’ award for its Teriyaki Noodles meal in 2017, Wetherspoon’s food development manager, Oliver Addis, said: “We are keen to offer our customers as wide a range of meals as possible and this includes a selection of vegan meals.
Since the award, the budget pub and hotel chain has also added a vegan Full English breakfast to its menu, using Quorn’s plant-based sausages.
“Wherever you live or travel in the UK, you’re never far from a delicious hot vegan meal, thanks to Wetherspoon’s vegan options,” Addis commented.
