An Amsterdam athlete – named ‘the fittest man in the Netherlands’ after clinching the number one spot at the CrossFit Games Open in his country – features in a video sharing his top plant-based diet tips.

23-years-old CrossFit athlete and coach Jeremy Reijnders, who made the video with fitness platform Orange Fit, has told Plant Based News: “I switched to a plant-based diet and vegan lifestyle in November 2015.

“It is my goal to inspire others by showing them that it is possible to thrive and perform well on a plant-based diet – fighting the myth that you need animal products to do so.”

The athlete shared his diet tips for optimum health

Transition

In the video, Reijnders discusses how he slowly swapped out the animal foods he was used to eating, and replaced them with plants instead, saying that this transition period made the change sustainable.

The athlete also reveals that he’s a fan of plant-based physician Dr. Greger’s ‘Daily Dozen’ – a checklist of foods to eat every day, including grains and greens.

Reijnders – who says he wants to play a role in helping the vegan movement grow – says he has found it easy to stick to eating plant-based because of the huge health benefits.
