Highstreet eatery, Wagamama, has debuted vegan ‘mini’ dishes for kids, saying it was ‘the obvious next step’.
The new kid’s menu, which features three vegan dishes and two different flavored ice pops, is available across the UK.
Children can opt for a mini yasai ramen with rice noodles in a vegetable soup topped with fried tofu, seasonal greens, carrot, and sweetcorn. A mini yasai katsu curry with curry sauce or Amai sauce – featuring sweet potato and butternut squash deep-fried in panko breadcrumbs.
‘The huge success’ of vegan food
“At Wagamama, being adventurous with food is central to our ‘positive eating, positive living ethos,” said Ross Farquhar, Chief Marketing Officer for Wagamama.
“After the huge success, we’ve enjoyed with our vegan and vegetarian menu and seeing how parents loved how visiting our restaurants helped their little noodlers broaden their culinary horizons, we decided that introducing a plant-based children’s menu was the obvious next step. We’re encouraging kids to try new tastes and textures and develop a playful palette.”
Vegan egg
Recently, the restaurant chain teamed up with Avant Garde Vegan, Gaz Oakley, to create a vegan ‘egg’ dish that is now available nationwide.
The bowl features BBQ glazed seitan, caramelized king oyster mushrooms and asparagus, sticky rice, edamame, spring onion, and carrot. It is topped with Oakley’s vegan egg made with miso-infused coconut and Sriracha Mayo.
