According
to a photo
shared to alternative social media website Reddit, international
fast food chain KFC is now offering vegan options at at least one location in
Vietnam.

‘Chay’

The sign
shows a number of dishes with both the words ‘chay’ and ‘vegan’ printed on it.

Chay, in Vietnamese,
denotes an item which is vegetarian in the strict, or traditional, sense and does
not include eggs or dairy – as opposed to a lacto-ovo, or western, vegetarian
which does.

Vegan KFC

This
development follows the announcement earlier this year that KFC would be
working toward developing an animal-free chicken option – following trends
already picked up by such major fast food chains as A&W and McDonald’s.

The chain
will reportedly test run the product in the UK by 2019.
