A UK vegan Oktoberfest will be held in the south west for the first time ever next month.

The German-themed festival will be held in Stroud on October 20 at the Malthouse Bar & Kitchen at Salmon Springs in Gloucestershire. A number of beers from local breweries will be on offer, including Stroud Brewery and Bristol-based Moor Brewery.

It will follow two local vegan fairs earlier this years which attracted in excess of 4,000 attendees combined.

Vegan energy

The event has been organized by the Drunk Punks Collective, including Liam and Tilly from Seitan’s Grill, Daisy from the Stroud Vegan Fair (and Cotswold Vegan Events) and Jess and Dan from the Vegan Punks blog.

According to the organizers: “In 2018, veganism has been surrounded by an unstoppable energy the cruelty-free food market has seen a huge increase. There’s been a 62 percent growth in plant-based products between 2013 and 2017, according to a recent report by Innova Market Insights.

“And the number of vegans in Britain has also increased by 360 percent in the last 10 years, while another statistic said that 28 percent of the UK public is now trying to decrease its meat consumption.”

Information

There will be an array of German style wieners, potato cakes and classic desserts to choose from on the day, which is due to run from 2pm – midnight on October 20.

The full line-up for the day is yet to be announced but the collective is close to being able to confirm the headlining acts.

Tickets start at £5 for entry but there will be a limited number of early bird tickets available that will include food, beer tokens and entry at a discounted rate. Children will go free.
