London’s famed vegan kebab shop, What the Pitta is set to open a new location in Brighton.

The venue will be its fourth, with existing kebab spots in Camden, and both the Croydon and Shoreditch Boxparks.


The chain serves up plant-based versions of traditional döner kebab dishes, including wraps, and boxes featuring either chips and couscous alongside its soy-based meat alternative.

Also offered are Turkish inspired dishes Mixed Mezze and a Lamacun – a sort of Turkish pizza – as well as desserts such as baklava and vegan ice-cream.

According to the company website, its founders aim to bring ‘a healthier and more ethical spin to a beloved British favourite’.


What the Pitta’s mission statement says: “We believe that going ‘Meat Free More Often’ using plant based alternatives can have a huge benefit on our health and the environmental impact on the planet.

“What The Pitta! aims to support the The Global Goals for Sustainable Development and build these into as many areas of our business as possible.

“By choosing a Vegan Döner over a meaty alternative you too will contribute towards these global goals and help not only yourself but us too to thrive sustainably.”

The new location is set to open by the end of this year.
