Christine Mei is CEO of Gathered Foods (which makes Good Catch). She said: “40 percent of Canadians are actively incorporating more plant-based foods into their diets.
“And we look forward to surprising and delighting these consumers with the taste, texture, and comparable protein of our Good Catch offerings.
“Our team has been diligently working on expanding our international presence to meet the increasing demand for plant-based alternatives globally. We are so pleased to make our first entry into the Canadian market.”
Celebrity backing
Earlier this year, Good Catch attracted a slew of celebrity backers. They included Woody Harrelson, Shailene Woodley, Paris Hilton, and Lance Bass. As a result, the company made headlines in the food media and beyond.
Gathered Food’s co-founder and CEO, Chris Kerr, said: “Consumer demand and culinary trends show the evolving excitement for plant-based foods, and the unified support from such an influential group goes far beyond funding alone.
“The message underscored by their backing is invaluable and we are thrilled to welcome all of our new investors.”
