A national cinema chain has added the famous plant-based Beyond Burger to the menu of its Austin, Texas locations.
Alamo Drafthouse is famous for serving up a meal and movie combination. While the chain already offered a veggie option, the Beyond Burger was considered a good alternative.
Jeff Mann, Alamo Drafthouse’s Vice President of Food and Beverage, told Eater Austin: “Based off of the initial tasting of the Beyond Meat product, we felt this would be a good item to be able to offer our guests that are looking for a vegan burger.”
Secret
The chain secretly added the vegan burger last month to test it – replacing its existing meat-free option – but without listing the company name on the menu.
Branches that offered the patty include all Austin Alamo Drafthouses (South Lamar, Ritz, Village, Slaughter, Lakeline, and Mueller), the Sloans Lake theater in Denver and an outlet in Springfield Missouri.
The chain plans to add the burger to its other locations if the test is successful – these are spread across the US, and include outlets in New York and California, as well as states in the midwest.
