More than 60 bakers went head-to-head in Toronto’s 10th annual Totally Fabulous
Vegan Bake-off
this month – an event which sold roughly 700 advance tickets.

The bake-off
– which took place at The Glass Factory and Lounge on Sudbury Street – featured
both amateur and professional bakers, competing to make the best plant-based
treats.

Judges and sponsors

Judges of
the event included cookbook author Sam Turnbull, chef Doug McNish, and Candice
Hutchings – known for her popular YouTube channel, The Edgy Veg.

The event’s sponsors
include online retailer VeganSupply.ca, grocery giant Whole Foods, vegan
cheese company Daiya, and leather-free handbag creators Pixie Mood – among many
others.

Founder

The
competition was founded by local activist Lisa Pitman – an ethical vegan since
her teens.

Pitman is
also a certified raw chef, contributor to One Green Planet, and the creator of
a blog called Vegan Culinary Crusade.
