The Body Shop sold one vegan beauty product every second in the UK in 2018, Plant Based News can reveal.
As the number of vegans in Great Britain has increased to more than 600,000 (according to The Vegan Society), the beauty industry has seen changes in consumer behavior.
According to The Body Shop, Google searches for ‘vegan beauty’ in the UK have doubled every year since 2012 and the trend continues to be on the up, demonstrating the rise in demand for vegan beauty products.
As a result, the UK has seen the number of vegan cosmetic launches rise by 175 percent between July 2013?and July 2018.

“Sales of vegan beauty products in the UK rose by a massive 38 percent in the last 13 months,” a spokesperson told PBN.
“At The Body Shop,?over 3 million vegan products were sold in the UK alone this year,?that’s a rate of one every second!
“This is a seven percent increase in sales?in?vegan products from the previous year.”
