Supermarket giant Tesco has introduced a collection of five ‘Summer-friendly’ wines to its Finest range – four of which are vegan.
The new collection, which includes an English White (11.5%), a Mosel Riesling (12%), a South African Cinsault (13.5%), and a Chablis (12%), is priced between £7- £12 and has already hit the shelves.
The 2018 Chilean Aromatico is the only new addition to the range that is not suitable for vegans.
‘Vibrancy and freshness’
According to Vegan Food & Living, a spokesperson for the supermarket said: “Share a vibrancy and freshness that makes them well-suited to seasonal drinking, while also giving wine lovers the opportunity to explore some lesser-known regions, grapes, and styles.”
Vegan wine
The four wines are labeled as vegan – avoiding the use of animal products such as gelatin and isinglass, which are commonly used during the process of wine-making.
The vegetarian and vegan wine industry has skyrocketed in the last few years, with Harpers claiming the market is ‘estimated to have a value in excess of £1.5 billion’ ($1.9 million).
