Taco Bell UK is launching vegan-friendly tacos in three of its London stores for National Vegetarian Week .

The veggie tacos – which can be customized to make them vegan-friendly – will be available in the Fulham, Hammersmith, and Holborn locations from May 13-19.

The Edgy Veggie Tacos will feature meat made by pulled oats, beans, and pea protein by Gold & Green Foods. Customers can ditch the cheese and sour cream to make them plant-based.

‘Meat-free offering’

“At Taco Bell, we pride ourselves on being a place where every lifestyle can find exactly what they’re craving,” Jorge Torres, General Manager of Taco Bell Europe, said.

“So, whether you’re a vegetarian or a flexitarian, then you’ll love our new flavorsome meat-free offering.”

Pulled oat meat

The Gold & Green Pulled Oats meat product which can be found in the tacos was created by Maija Itkonen working with her childhood friend Reetta Kiveläin, an attempt to better the soy-based meat alternative products on the shelves.

“Pulled Oats doesn’t only contain much protein (over 30 percent), but also contains all nine essential amino acids, which makes it a so-called “complete protein’,” said Gold & Green.

“Amino acids are the building blocks in your body. There are many kinds of amino acids. “Most of them can be created by the body itself, but not the nine so-called ‘essential’ ones.”
