Major UK retailer ASDA has expanded its vegan range with a line of products that cost £1.50 each.

The new line – which is accredited by The Vegan Society – features frozen plant-based burgers, sausages, and falafel. The products are available online and in selected stores.

There are three burger options; Butternut Squash, Sweet Potato & Red Pepper, Edamame, Asparagus & Mint and Beetroot & Spinach. In addition, there are Butternut Squash, Sweet Potato & Red Pepper Sausages, Mushroom & Kale Sausages, Spicy Bean Burgers and Sweet Potato Falafels on offer.

‘Committed’

ASDA’s Innovation Chef Andrew Johnston helped develop the range.

He said: “We’re committed to catering for the growing number of Asda customers following a vegan diet.

“We wanted to introduce more delicious and innovative vegan-friendly foods so that everyone can enjoy tasty meal options at the BBQ this summer.”

The products follow a slew of vegan-friendly supermarket lines launched this year, including Tesco’s Wicked Healthy range, and options from Sainsbury’s and Ocado.
