An artisan plant-based burger company has launched a crowdfunding campaign in order to fund a permanent restaurant site – and with 26 days to go, the company has already reached its target.
Food from The Vurger Co – which was founded by Neil Potts and Rachel Hugh – is currently only available at pop-ups and markets in London.
But the duo, who have said they want to ‘revolutionise fast food forever through the power of plants’ want to create a permanent restaurant, and have recruited the co-owners of London vegetarian restaurant Vanilla Black, Andrew Dargue and Donna Conroy as consultants.
According to Potts and Hugh: “After suffering from persistent health issues for over 10 years, and after a life-changing trip to California in 2016, we came back to London looking for fantastic and natural plant based food, served quickly, in a space with mainstream appeal.
“We couldn’t find it, so we created our own, and our successful pop up restaurants have shown us clearly that London is ready for, and excited about, the future of fast food.”
Those who want to try The Vurger Co’s food , which has won critical acclaim from news outlets including Tatler and Timeout – can visit its East London pop-up in Bethnal Green.
Dishes include the classic and ‘Mexican’ burgers, as well as an Aubergine version and a range of sides.
