Starbucks is launching a new vegan specialty drink for Halloween – the ‘Phantom Frappuccino’.

The new chilled drink, which will not be available in the States but in stores across Europe, will be on sale from October 26 for five days for £2.70.

It is made from coconut milk, mango and pineapple essence and Frappuccino syrup, and topped with ‘ghoulish lime slime’ made from spirulina extract, charcoal powder, and lime and lemon juice. An optional topping is black, dairy-free whipped cream.

‘Fruity extravaganza’

“It is dark on the outside and tastes like a light and fruity extravaganza on the inside,” Starbucks said in a press release.

Speaking to media outlet Insider, a Starbucks spokesperson added: “Starbucks has always been committed to offering customers products that meet their diverse needs and taste preferences.

“As more people choose a dairy-free diet, we are making sure customers don’t have to miss out on new product launches by widening our range of vegan-friendly options.”
